hisoka and illumi relationship help

At some point, Illumi formed an unusual relationship with Hisoka, which he described as "give-and-take". He once came to the aid of the magician by standing for. HisoIllumi (Hisoka x Illumi) Is Fanon Pairing Between Hunters Illumi Zoldyck and that Hisoka claims as friend, although their relationship is unconventional. Illumi Illumi once came to the aid of Hisoka by standing for him as a double in the. Illumi would call Hisoka an ally, and Hisoka probably would call 'give and take' vibe to their relationship they mainly help each other out.

This analysis is based on a wonderful bombshell dropped on us in the newest chapters of the Manga during the current Dark Continent arc. And what exactly was the bombshell? From Chapter of the Manga: The Phantom Troupe is sitting around a table and Chrollo asks Illumi to introduce himself to the other members and tell of his connection to Hisoka.

Illumi proceeds to explain that: Hisako signed a contract for me to kill him. So seriously did we take our desire to kill each other.

As an engagement ring, Hisako gave me a prenup agreement that should he die prematurely that I would still get the reward. When did Hisoka and Illumi get engaged? Why does Illumi want Gon dead? Those are the sort of questions that bother me. Luckily, we have some eye-opening revelations about Illumi and Hisoka which help to fill in the blanks with large parts of the story, especially the long running and subtle plot concerning Killugon.

Let us start with a detailed review of Manga Chapter Taking place on a huge boat with thousands of people aboard bound for the Dark Continent. The Phantom Troupe is on the trail of Hisoka, who after quitting the Spiders, cheated death after a fight with Chrollo, took to hunting the members of the Troupe. The Troupe intends to kill Hisoka before he can kill them.

Amongst other unclear goals. In the scene in question, the Troupe is in a large eatery on one of the lower levels. They sit around a choice table, where Chrollo decides this is a good opportunity for the newest members, Illumi and Kalluto to introduce themselves and explain their connection to Hisoka.

The dialog is as follows: A group of mafia guys approach the table that apparently belongs to them. The Spiders ignore them.

The oldest son of the Zoldyck family. My younger brothers are Killua and Kalluto. I had a give and take relationship with him previously… But it seemed one of us was going to kill the other in the end. Hisoka had contracted me to kill him.

For our engagement ring, he gave me a prenup where if he dies, I still collect my reward. Both he and I are very serious about this. That is why I do not know his location. Was Illumi lying to the Troupe?

So, what does this soliloquy tell us about Illumi? Previously it had been assumed that Illumi and Hisoka were both bisexual and merely friends, perhaps friends with benefits.

Yet here we have reason to believe they were much closer, even romantically involved. Talk of engagements and prenups suggest they are both gay. How do we know this? These are the most skilled fighters, adept killers, experts in deception.

Even as skilled as Illumi is, should the Troupe decide to act as one and kill him, Illumi would have no chance of defending himself. Illumi might be able to lie to them by omission, but to tell them a bold face lie such as his relationship with Hisoka would be suicide. What does Kalluto tell us? That brings us to Kalluto. Kalluto who never got a chance to introduce himself does provide us with loads more information about Hisolumi.

If you have access to the manga, study the two pages in this scene carefully; notice anything about Kalluto while Illumi revealed his secret? And this tells us something. Given that Illumi is telling the absolute truth, this information is not news to Kalluto. Kalluto has known for some time about the relationship between Illumi and Hisoka. Kalluto has probably known the two were an item as far back as the Yorknew arc, when Kalluto assisted Illumi in infiltrating the Troupe in order for Illumi to stand-in for Hisoka.

For starters Kalluto is the youngest of the Zoldyck brothers. It stands to reason that as the youngest he would generally be the last to know about family business, relationships, politics, etc.

Since Kalluto does know about Hisolumi it's a good bet that the rest of the Zoldyck clan knows as well. But when did this happen? Towards the end of that arc Manga Ch. Then Illumi makes mention that he and Hisoka have not known each other very long.

This suggests perhaps a year or two at most.

However, Killua was not at home during this time and so even now probably is unaware of this relationship. But when exactly did the engagement and prenup happen?

Illumi Discuss With Hisoka About Gon,Killua And Alluka -- Hunter X Hunter

If it took place during a previous arc, the most probable moment was this: Illumi is enlisting the help of Hisoka in the plan to kill Alluka and possibly Killua. Given the nature of the situation and the elegant setting, and the dire conversation topic, it seems fitting that either before or after this scene the marriage proposal would have taken place and the prenup too.

At least this is the most likely time it could have happened in a pre-Dark Continent arc. Yeah… Illumi gets Killua to admit what he wants is a friend and that Gon is his friend. Killua denies this, refuses to submit to his assassin training, which prompts Illumi to threaten to go after Gon and kill him on the spot. Things happen and Illumi eventually relents.

Killua in a near psychotic state ends up killing one of the other candidates, doubtless under the control of Illumiand leaves the Exam in humiliation to return home.

Okay, so now the big question. Was it just a passing threat in the heat of the moment to gain total control of Killua? Illumi confides in Hisoka that he believes Gon is a threat and is determined to eliminate Gon immediately. Hisoka warns Illumi that Gon belongs to him and that Illumi is not to harm him.

It was good that Illumi relented. But why exactly does Illumi want or need Gon dead? Why does Illumi see Gon as a threat? It all comes back to the big Hisolumi reveal in Dark Continent arc. This engagement of Illumi and Hisoka proves the two are in a romantic relationship and therefore must be gay. Remember who is the chosen son, the future patriarch of the Zoldyck dynasty?

The prince with the silver gene.

Hunter x Hunter

The one who has received the highest training, has the biggest obligation pinned on him? That would be our boy Killua. The one who has no chance of being the favored Zoldyck in the years to come? That would be Illumi. Illumi does have a rather large responsibility on his head. Provided Illumi does his duty, and that Killua toes the line and becomes the Zoldyck assassin and patriarch they need, Illumi is allotted a certain amount of freedom.

Freedom to indulge in personal interests including dabbling in romance. That Illumi should take an interest in Hisoka, an expert killer is perfectly fine. The fact they are a gay couple is no matter for the Zoldycks, this is partially because Illumi does not have the rare silver gene, which is why he was not selected as the favored son.

In short, there is no expectation for Illumi to pass his family lineage onto the next generation of Zoldycks.

Hunter x Hunter Thoughts — How do you define Illumi/Hisokas relationship?

You know what happened after that? Illumi, for the most part, displays very little expression. In contrast to his expressionless demeanor, Illumi often speaks in a somewhat joyful and absent-minded tone.

He is generally a stony, ruthless person with an extremely cold way of thinking, reflects only his interest. Still, he holds a twisted and overprotective form of love for his younger brother, Killua; this manifests to the point that he used his Nen ability to control Killua and ensure he survives and obeys. He and his father raised Killua to believe that the only thing sustaining him was darkness, and that he could only obtain joy in causing the death of others. To ensure that Killua would live to carry on the family business, and as a means of protecting his little brother, Illumi implanted a needle in Killua's brain, forcing the latter to run from battles he wasn't sure he could win.

Illumi once came to the aid of Hisoka by standing for him as a double in the Phantom Troupe's hideout while Hisoka attempted to find Chrollo. However, when Hisoka asked Illumi would it be okay if he killed Killua, Illumi displayed a horrifying side of himself and asked if Hisoka wanted to die then and there - he acted very similar to how Hisoka did himself after Illumi was opting whether or not to kill Gon, whom he sees as a threat due to his closeness with Killua, during the Hunter Exam, albeit on a much lesser expense.

Illumi cares for most of the Zoldyck family members. He is willing to handle Alluka's power, even if it costs him his life. He has stated, however, that family members are not allowed to kill during an inner mission a mission where there is internal conflictbut insinuates that he would be fine with killing Alluka and does not consider Alluka a member of the family.

Tsubone implies that Illumi's sinister ambition to control Alluka's power even caused him to stray from the path of an assassin.

He is always in search for strong opponents, and would spare those who have great potential, such as Gon and Killua. Hisoka's appearance is similar to that of a magician or jester. He is tall and has light skin and a fairly toned stature. His attire is usually adorned with various suit symbols on the front and back torso, and he changes outfits in each story arc.

He wears face paint: In the 13th Hunter Chairman Election arc, Hisoka is shown wearing two earrings with ornamental hearts. In his first appearance in Nippon Animation's anime series, Hisoka's hair is blue. After a revamp of the show it was replaced with a red, almost neon pink color to be in accordance with the manga.

In Madhouse's adaptation, Hisoka has red hair and light amber eyes. During the Yorknew City arc in the manga, Hisoka dyes his hair light green.
