She is a champion for our city! Nominated by Kaci S. Creating market conditions for Employment We have study after study, report after report that outlines we need to be more decisive and proactive in our attainment and servicing of lands for employment use. We continually have to turn companies away looking to expand in Fort Erie — and that cannot continue.

As mayor, I will make creating the conditions necessary for business locating and expansion a top priority.

Infrastructure Investment We need to look at different approaches to our roads and other infrastructure; that includes more real-time analysis and less reliance on five and year forecasts. Our rural roads also need their own strategy to ensure that they do not fall further and further behind.

Everyone pays taxes, and regardless of what street you live on, nobody should have to have a wheel alignment done once a month just getting to and from their home.

Accommodating Growth It is a reality that Fort Erie is geographically poised for tremendous growth over the next decade; how we manage that growth is in our hands. If we want to grow and keep the quality of life we enjoy with regards to woodlots and open space, then we need multi-story buildings.

It is absolutely criminal that when someone can no longer maintain their home, that they have to move to another town or city to find an apartment. Regardless of the subject matter, there is no problem that cannot be solved through creative and collaborative thinking and reaching out to all involved to find compromise and consensus. When you run for mayor you also need to be cognizant of all the council candidates thoughts, and ideas, and respect them when they are elected to council.

It is the role of the mayor to facilitate discussion, find common ground, and support the ward councilors in helping their constituents. The mayor needs to serve his councilors, not treat them like servants. If councilors believe their mayor has their best interest at heart, it fosters a good working environment where the focus is on bettering the entire Town, not just specific areas.

Redekop Contact information for voters: E-mail at wayne wayneredekop. Lawyer sincepracticing civil and estate litigation, family law, corporate law Political Experience: Councillor, ; Mayor,to present Volunteer Experience: Member Ridgeway Lions Club since ; St. I love my community.

We have been building momentum towards creating something remarkable in Fort Erie. We have built a strong team of Councillors and staff who are committed to serving the residents of Fort Erie.

We have pursued a strategic plan that has placed a focus on growth and prosperity, sustainable infrastructure and better communications and customer service.

There have been record housing starts in Fort Erie over the past three years, jobs are being created by new businesses and there is a sense of optimism in our community. But there is still room to improve and opportunities for greater success that await.

Fort Erie still needs a strong leader, with experience and a proven record of success to guide the community to the next level. Someone who understands the importance of teamwork and what can be accomplished by people and organizations working together. Keeping living in Fort Erie affordable. Achieving our full potential. Fort Erie is growing. We want to attract new businesses, encourage the expansion of existing businesses and attract investment, which will provide employment, lead to more people moving to town and broaden the tax base.

The challenge is to maintain what residents love about Fort Erie — our closeness to nature. We have been designing policies that will allow us to integrate new development with our natural heritage features woods, wildlife habitat, wetlands. We have an opportunity to grow in a unique way and be an example for other communities. We want Fort Erie to be the home of choice for people of all ages, including young families. Keeping living in Fort Erie affordable: The cost of everything seems to be going up, including costs the Town has to pay for services and public works.

To garner better pricing for construction projects, the Town takes steps to be able to tender those projects early in the year when contractors are still looking for work. We also bundle projects to gain better pricing. Where possible, the Town will work with other municipalities to purchase goods or services to gain efficiencies.

This is necessary work that was traditionally deferred in order to keep taxes artificially low but can no longer be passed on to the next generations. The province mandates this type of asset management, and Fort Erie is well ahead of our neighbours in maintaining our infrastructure. We are also adopting policies that will encourage a mix of housing, including apartments, to provide more affordable housing for everyone and the ability for seniors to remain in Fort Erie as they age and no longer wish to maintain a home and property.

By collaborating with others, we are able to maximize the benefit while keeping costs low. Achieving our full potential: Fort Erie is a great place to live and raise a family. We have an abundance of natural riches, proximity to everything that large cities offer, safe streets, excellent schools, recreational facilities and programs for all ages and very engaged residents.
